5 killed as bus, ambulance collide in Faridpur
At least five people were killed in a head-on collision between a bus and an ambulance in Nagarkanda upazila of Faridpur on Sunday morning.
The deceased included two women and three men, all believed to be passengers of the ambulance.
However, their identities could not be known immediately.
The accident occurred around 10:45am on the Dhaka-Barishal highway near Shankarpasha Bazar.
Officer-in-Charge of Bhanga Highway Police Station Helal Uddin said a Dhaka-bound ambulance collided head-on with a Faridpur-bound BRTC bus.
“Five people died on the spot,” he said, adding that rescue operations were still underway.

4 killed, 3 injured in Faridpur road crash
Four people were killed and three others were injured in a head-on collision between a passenger bus and a three-wheeler 'Mahindra' in Bhanga upazila of Faridpur on Wednesday morning.
The identities of the deceased could not be known yet, but all the victims were passengers of the three-wheeler.
Talha Bin Zashim, station officer (media cell) of Fire Service and Civil Defence (FSCD) headquarters, said the collision occurred around 6:12am in Chumurdi Bablatala Bus Stand area of the upazila, leaving the four dead on the spot.
3 of a family killed, 3 others injured in Tangail road accident
On information, two firefighting units from Bhanga fire station rushed to the spot and rescued the injured with the help of locals and sent to Upazila Health Complex, he said.
Further details of the accident will be shared later, he added.

Two killed in Faridpur road accident
Two persons were killed when an auto-rickshaw overturned and caught fire after being hit by a speeding truck on the Dhaka-Khulna highway in Faridpur on Thursday night, police said.
The accident occurred around 9.30pm in the Arkandi area of the busy highway in Faridpur's Madhukhali upazila, said Kankan Biswash, officer-in-charge of Kanaipur highway police station.

While one of the occupants of the auto-rickshaw died on the spot, another was declared dead on arrival by doctors at the upazila health complex, said OC Kankan.
The identities of the deceased could not be known but they were both occupants of the auto-rickshaw, he said.

"The truck has been seized and legal action will be taken in this regard," the OC added.
