Day labourer killed in Karwan Bazar road crash
A day labourer was killed after being crashed into by a pickup van while crossing a road near Wasa Bhaban in Karwan Bazar area of Dhaka on Monday night.
The deceased was identified as Md Moktar Mia, 60, who worked as a day labourer in the Karwan Bazar.
Witnesses said the accident occurred around 9:45pm when the speeding vehicle knocked him down at the time of crossing the road, leaving him critically injured.

Pedestrians took him to the Emergency Department of Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) where physicians declared him dead at 11:50pm, said Md Faruk, in-charge of the hospital police outpost.
The body has been kept at the hospital morgue for autopsy, he added.

Day labourer dies after being hit by train in Nilphamari
A sexagenarian day-labourer died after being hit by a speedy train at Chetashahar Ghunti area under Nilpahamari Sadar upazila on Saturday at about 6:30pm.
The deceased has been identified as Khetu Mamud, 65, from Boubazar Begpara village under the upazila.
According to Mahfuzar Rahman Shah, Councillor of ward no 6 of Nilphamari municipality, Khetu was returning home after work when the Khulna-bound Rupsha Express train hit him, causing him to die instantly.

Shafiul Islam, Officer In-charge of Saidpur railway police station, said that police have visited the spot.
“Necessary steps will be taken if we get any complaint from the deceased’s family,” said the OC.
