Ramos’ last-minute goal seals PSG victory over Nice
Paris Saint-Germain (PSG), who have been struggling for form in the league recently, appeared set for another setback on Saturday evening. However, a last-minute goal from Gonzalo Ramos ensured Luis Enrique’s side left the pitch with all three points.
The reigning champions defeated Nice 1–0 at the Parc des Princes in Ligue 1 on Saturday. This was only their second win in the last five matches, with the other three ending in draws, and their first victory in a game after a brief winless run.

PSG remain top of the table with 24 points from 11 matches, including seven wins and three draws. Monaco, with 20 points from one fewer game, sit in second place. Nice are eighth with 17 points from 11 matches.
Throughout the match, PSG dominated possession with an attacking display, holding around 77 percent of the ball. They had 28 shots, with the first 27 failing to find the target, but the breakthrough came on the 28th and final shot of the game.
In the fourth minute of added time, Ramos, who came on as a substitute in the 72nd minute, scored the decisive goal. Lee Kang-in’s corner was met by Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, who headed the ball to the far post, where Ramos directed a perfect header into the net. The goal made Ramos’ 100th appearance for PSG a memorable one.

Dembele crowned king: PSG star wins Ballon d’Or
Paris Saint-Germain’s Ousmane Dembele has won the prestigious Ballon d’Or, capping a sensational season that saw him lead PSG to their first-ever Champions League title. The 28-year-old forward beat out Barcelona’s teenage sensation Lamine Yamal for the top honor, which was awarded at the Theatre du Chatelet in Paris on Monday.
A historic season for Dembele and PSG
Dembele was instrumental in PSG’s historic season, which also saw them lift the Ligue 1 and Coupe de France trophies. The French international scored an impressive 35 goals and provided 16 assists in 53 appearances across all competitions.
His explosive form was crucial for the treble-winning side, especially after Kylian Mbappe’s departure to Real Madrid, as Dembele seamlessly transitioned into a more central attacking role.
He succeeds Manchester City’s Rodri as the men’s player of the year, an award administered by France Football and decided by a vote of international journalists. The criteria for the award include individual performance, team achievements, and a player’s class and fair play.
From Barcelona to Ballon d’Or
Dembele’s victory marks a remarkable turnaround for the forward, who struggled to meet expectations during his six seasons at Barcelona after a high-profile €100 million move in 2017. However, since his €50 million transfer to PSG in 2023, he has flourished under coach Luis Enrique, establishing himself as one of the world’s elite players.
“Thank you all,” an emotional Dembele said upon receiving the award from legendary player Ronaldinho. “What just happened to me is incredible. I’m speechless. It’s been an amazing season with PSG... I want to thank PSG for signing me in 2023. The president, the entire team, and the club. They are a wonderful family.”

He also credited Luis Enrique, saying the coach “is like a father to me” and has been “very important to my career.”
Other awards at the ceremony
The ceremony also celebrated other standout performers from the past season:
Lamine Yamal, 18, who had a brilliant season with Barcelona, was awarded the Kopa Trophy for second time for the best under-21 male player.
Barcelona’s Aitana Bonmati won her third consecutive Ballon d’Or Feminin, joining an exclusive club alongside Michel Platini and Lionel Messi.
Vicky Lopez of Barcelona was named the best under-21 female player.
The Gerd Müller trophy for the season’s top goal scorers went to Arsenal’s Viktor Gyokeres and Barcelona’s Ewa Pajor.
Gianluigi Donnarumma (PSG/Italy) and Hannah Hampton (Chelsea) were named the best goalkeepers, receiving the Yashin Trophy and Lev Yashin Trophy, respectively.
The Johan Cruyff trophies for best coaches were awarded to PSG’s Luis Enrique and England women’s team manager, Sarina Wiegman.

Luis Enrique more than just a coach for Torres
Luis Enrique is more than just a coach for Spain forward Ferran Torres. He is also the father of the Barcelona player’s girlfriend — and that’s no problem for them at the World Cup.
Torres dates the 20-year-old daughter of Luis Enrique, Sira Martínez, and says he and the coach have done well, separating work and family.
“The coach and I are being able to separate when we are family and when we are coach and player,” the 22-year-old Torres said Sunday in Qatar, where Spain will play in Group E.
He and Sira have not hidden their relationship, but the forward has not often spoken publicly about it.
“You have to deal with it naturally,” Torres said. “It is what it is, and we have been dealing with it very well.”

Luis Enrique brought up Torres’ relationship with his daughter in one of his appearances as a streamer on Twitch. When asked about which player he felt was the most similar to him when he used to play, Luis Enrique — a former midfielder for Spain’s national team and for Barcelona — had a long pause and then said, laughing: “This one is very easy for me. It’s Ferran Torres. Because if not, my daughter will get me and cut my head off.”
Torres hinted he was watching the stream when Luis Enrique made the joke.
“I’m a fan of his streams. Every night we are waiting to watch him and we have a good time with it,” Torres said. “He jokes a lot. It was something that came up live, it was a joke.”
Torres is one of the many youngsters Luis Enrique picked for Spain’s revamped squad. He hasn’t played many minutes with Barcelona under coach Xavi Hernández, but started for Spain in the two Nations League matches in September. He also came off the bench in the World Cup warmup against Jordan last week.
Torres plays more on the sides but can also be used at the top of the attack at the striker position, where Luis Enrique only brought Álvaro Morata to his squad.
“We have eight forwards and that helps,” said Torres, who feels like good performances in Qatar may help his case at the club level with Barcelona. “The World Cup may work as a trampoline for me and many other players.”
Spain is trying to win a second World Cup title after lifting the trophy for the first time in 2010 in South Africa. The team’s first match in Qatar is on Wednesday against Costa Rica. The team will then face Germany and Japan.
