A six-month-old child went  missing after a battery-run rickshaw overturned and fell into a drain in Chawkbazar area of Chattogram city on Friday. Fire service sources said the rickshaw fell into the roadside drain due to overspeed and while two passengers including its mother were rescued by locals. The child remained untraced even after four and a half hours of the accident, said Anwar Hossain, assistant director of the Fire Service and Civil Defense in Chattogram city. However, rescue efforts were ongoing as of filing this report till 12:20am. College student goes missing while swimming in Cox's Bazar beach Upon hearing the news, Chittagong City Corporation Mayor Dr. Shahadat Hossain rushed to the scene and instructed authorities to prioritise the rescue operation. Firefighters, a team of divers, and Chittagong City Corporation cleaning staff are all working together. The child  slipped from the mother’s arms and fell into the drain during the accident, and there was a strong current in the water at the time, said witnesses.

A one-year-old boy went missing after falling into a drain at Rangipara in Uttar Agrabad of Double Mooring area in Chattogram port city on Sunday. The victim was identified as Yeasin Arafat, son of Saddam Hossain of Agrabad area. Jalal Ahmed, duty officer of Chattogram Fire Service and Control room, said, Yeasin fell into the drain at 5 pm adjacent to KM Tower and went missing. On information, a team of Agrabad Fire service unit rushed to the spot and are conducting a rescue operation till the filing of this report at 7:30 pm. Besides, the low-lying areas of Chattogram port city have been inundated due to the torrential rains that swept through the city from Saturday night, causing immense sufferings to the city dwellers. All the roads and alleys were submerged by the rain water, forcing the authorities concerned to delay the HSC examination for one hour.
