Students led by NCP leaders rally in front of Jamuna, demand ban on Awami League
A group of students, led by National Citizens Party (NCP) leaders, gathered in front of the Chief Adviser's residence, Jamuna, on Wednesday night demanding a political ban on the Awami League.
The demonstration began around 10pm under the leadership of Hasnat Abdullah, Chief Organiser of NCP’s Southern Region.
Protesters chanted slogans calling for the trial of Awami League leaders and the party’s complete ban from politics.

Earlier, Hasnat Abdullah had announced the sit-in programme through a Facebook post, stating that they would remain in front of Jamuna until a clear roadmap is declared for the trial, deregistration and banning of the Awami League’s political activities.
In a separate post, NCP Convener Nahid Islam said the party’s (AL's) fate would be decided by tonight.
He expressed frustration over what he called "delays in bringing the ruling party to justice" and criticised the lack of decisive action toward its deregistration and ban.

Nahid also urged all political forces, as well as the families of martyrs and the injured, to take to the streets and continue protesting until justice is achieved.

British High Commissioner meets Nahid, other NCP leaders
British High Commissioner to Bangladesh Sarah Cooke has met with Nahid Islam and other National Citizen Party (NCP) leaders as part of a series of meetings with political parties.
They discussed the UK’s support to Bangladesh and the pathway towards a democratic, inclusive, and prosperous future, said the High Commission on Wednesday.
The leaders of theNCP on Tuesday met diplomats of the European countries and discussed the party’s views and priorities.

Both sides also discussed the European Union's support for Bangladesh's democratic transition.
Ambassador and Head of Delegation of the European Union to Bangladesh Michael Miller was, among others, present at the meeting.
"Insightful exchange today with the newly formed National Citizen Party," said the EU Embassy in Dhaka after the meeting.
NCP alleges attack by ex- leader of Swechchhasebak Dal in Mirpur, protest held
NCP Convener Nahid Islam and its Senior Joint Member Secretary Dr Tasnim Jara joined the meeting.
"Honoured to join our Convener Nahid Islam in a candid exchange with the Ambassadors and representatives of the European Union and eight member states — Spain, France, Germany, Netherlands, Italy, Sweden, Switzerland and Norway," Dr Jara said in a post from her verified Facebook account.
