Four held in Kuakata's first seizure of contraband ‘Crystal Meth’
Eight grams of contraband drug Crystal Meth, also known as 'Ice', have been seized in Patuakhali in first such incident in the coastal district, authorities said on Friday.
They said four suspected drug dealers were held in separate anti-drug operations.
According to the district’s Department of Narcotics Control (DNC), eight grams of Crystal Meth were recovered from two drug dealers, while another two individuals were arrested with 73 pieces of Yaba tablets during Thursday's daylong drives in different areas of Kalapara upazila.
Hamimur Rashid, deputy director of the DNC, revealed this at a press briefing at Kuakata Press Club on Thursday night, saying that the operations were launched following intelligence reports of rising drug smuggling along various coastal waterways of the district.

‘Acting on specific information, our teams conducted raids across several locations. Based on confessions from the detainees, we recovered Crystal Meth and Yaba pills from the hidden locations,’ Rashid said.
The arrestees were handed over to Mohipur Police Station to take legal action, he added.
