Sylhet rail link cut off after train derailment
Rail communications between Sylhet and the rest of the country were suspended after four bogies of a train derailed at Moglabazar in Sylhet district on Tuesday morning.
Abul Kuddus, officer-in-charge of Sylhet Railway Police Station, said four bogies, including the engine of the Sylhet-bound ‘Udayan Express’ from Chattogram, veered off the tracks around 8 am, disrupting train services on the route.
Several passengers were injured in the incident.
Railway advises passengers to use official App for ticket purchases
On information, a fire service team rushed to the spot and, with the help of locals, rescued the passengers.
A relief train from the local station was sent to the site to salvage the derailed bogies, said Sylhet Railway Station Manager Nurul Islam.
