46 arrested in Operation Devil Hunt Phase-2 in 24 hours: DMP
A total of 46 people were arrested in the last 24 hours till 8:00am on Sunday under Operation Devil Hunt Phase-2 by different units of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP).
The arrests were made during simultaneous drives conducted on Saturday in crime-prone areas under the jurisdictions of Jatrabari, Mugda, Rupnagar, Banani, Sher-e-Bangla Nagar and Bangshal police stations, said DMP Deputy Commissioner (Media) Talebur Rahman on Sunday afternoon.

Of the arrestees, Jatrabari Police arrested 17 people, Mugda Police 11, Rupnagar Police eight, Banani Police four, Sher-e-Bangla Nagar Police four and Bangshal Police two.
All the arrested persons were produced before the court on Sunday, the DMP official added.

27 arrested under Operation Devil Hunt Phase-2: DMP
Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) arrested 27 people during the last 24 hours till 8 am on Monday under Operation Devil Hunt Phase-2 from Bangshal, Kalabagan, Sher-e-Bangla, and Mugda police station areas in the capital.
Among the arrestees, Bangshal and Kalabagan police stations each arrested four people, Sher-e-Bangla police station arrested three, while Mugda police station arrested 16 persons during separate drives in crime-prone areas, said DMP’s Deputy Commissioner (Media) Talebur Rahman.
Bangshal thana police carried out a day-long operation on Sunday and arrested four people. The arrestees are Md Mizanur Rahman, 30; Md Shahid Chan, 55; Ranjit Kumar Sutradhar; and Md Jakir Hossain.

Kalabagan thana police arrested four people identified as Md Alif Chukdar, 19; Md Iman, 26; Ramjan, 20; and Md Zakaria Islam Agun, 22.
Sher-e-Banglanagar thana police arrested three people during the operation. The arrestees are Md Suyef Hossain Saif, 20; Md Sajib Rahman, 26; and Md Mahbubur Rahman, 30.
Meanwhile, Mugda thana police arrested 16 people during their operation. The arrested are Shamsul Alam Kutti, 32; Niamul Huda Kakan, 20; Md Zahidul Islam, 27; Md Samsul Alam, 40; Md Sakib Uddin, 18; Rubel, 18; Md Billal Mia, 36; Amir Hossain, 42; Md Sohag, 35; Md Chan Mia, 35; Md Alamgir, 28; Ali Hossain, 34; Md Shahadat, 28; Md Maruf Hossain, 30; Md Nazir Hossain, 35; and Md Iman, 21.
All the arrestees were sent to court, the DC (Media) said.

Operation Devil Hunt Phase-2 to begin ahead of national election
The interim government of Bangladesh has decided to immediately launch “Operation Devil Hunt Phase-2” across the country to prevent subversive activities using illegal arms and to suppress ‘fascist terrorists’ ahead of the February national election.
Home Affairs Adviser Lt Gen (retd) Jahangir Alam Chowdhury disclosed the decision while briefing journalists after a core committee meeting on law and order at the secretariat on Saturday (December 13, 2025).
He said the law enforcement agencies are already conducting nationwide drives to recover looted and illegal firearms.

The adviser said the meeting in addition to routine law and order issues specifically reviewed overall security preparations for the upcoming parliamentary election, security arrangements for frontline fighters of the July movement including Osman Hadi, and progress in the recovery of looted illegal weapons.
Jahangir Alam said law enforcement agencies have been directed to arrest those involved in the the attack without delay.
“We hope to bring the perpetrators to justice within a very short time. No one involved in this attack will be spared,” he said expressing confidence that the people would fully cooperate with the investigation.
The adviser said the attack on Osman Hadi is being viewed as an attempt to obstruct the upcoming election.
He added that the interim government would take a firm stance against any attempt to disrupt or sabotage the election process.
The adviser also said the interim government remains firmly committed to ensuring the security of frontline fighters of the July uprising.
