Detectives have arrested retired Major Md Mozzaffar Hossain, a fugitive convict in former President Ziaur Rahman assassination case, after over 45 years on the run. A team of DB police conducted a drive in Banani DOHS area and arrested him on Wednesday midnight, said DMP Additional Commissioner and Chief of the Detective Branch (DB) Md Shafiqul Islam on Thursday afternoon. After completion of the necessary legal formalities, he was handed over to the Bangladesh Army for court martial proceedings, said police. Mozzaffar Hossain remained absconding since the killing of President Ziaur Rahman by a group of dissident army officers at the Chattogram Circuit House in in 1981.
