highway traffic jam
Over 20-km tailback on Dhaka-Chattogram highway in Cumilla
A 20-kilometre long tailback has been created Dhaka-Chattogram highway in Cumilla district due to ongoing road repair work, causing suffering for people.
The traffic jam, which began on Friday, has intensified over the past several hours.
The congestion has become particularly severe at several key points in Cumilla as the volume of vehicles has increased.
Long-distance buses, cargo trucks and other vehicles have remained stuck for hours, causing significant hardship to drivers and passengers.
Drivers alleged that the authorities failed to make adequate arrangements to keep traffic moving smoothly while the repair work is underway.
The combination of ongoing construction and heavy traffic has resulted in the prolonged tailback, said Anisur Rahman, Sub-inspector of Cumilla Mainamati highway police camp.
