Manchester United earn a deserved point after stoppage-time drama
Richarlison thought he had clinched a victory for Tottenham in the first minute of stoppage time, but the drama was far from over. Five minutes later, in the penultimate minute of the match, Matthijs de Ligt silenced the home fans with a stunning header to earn Manchester United a well-deserved point.
The Red Devils drew 2-2 with Tottenham at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Saturday.
The visitors took the lead when Bryan Mbeumo, who was named Premier League Player of the Month on Friday, came back to haunt his former manager Thomas Frank, guiding in Amad Diallo’s cross in the 32nd minute.
That was the only shot on target for either side in the first half, although the hosts dominated possession with 55 percent.
After the break, Tottenham piled pressure on the United defence, creating chances one after another. However, Ruben Amorim’s men stayed well-organised, denying all attacks and looking for a second goal whenever they regained possession. But it was Mathys Tel who found the equaliser for Tottenham six minutes before time.
Richarlison then thought he had won it for the hosts with a clever flicked header a minute into stoppage time, but de Ligt ensured the Red side of Manchester would return with at least a point from north London.
With the result, United stretched their unbeaten run to five matches, while Tottenham have now gone eight games without defeat against United.
The draw saw Tottenham move up to third place with 18 points from 11 matches, seven points behind leaders Arsenal ahead of the rest of the weekend fixtures. United also have 18 points but sit seventh due to an inferior goal difference.
The Premier League will pause for the international break over the next fortnight. When it returns, Tottenham will face leaders Arsenal on Sunday, November 23, while United will host Everton the following evening.

PSG to face Tottenham in UEFA Super Cup
Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) will take on Tottenham Hotspur on Wednesday in the UEFA Super Cup, the annual match between the winners of the Champions League and Europa League.
PSG, coming off a historic treble that included their first Champions League title, enter the match as favourites. The Qatari-backed French club will aim to bounce back after losing to Chelsea in the Club World Cup final in the United States.
Tottenham, meanwhile, ended a 17-year wait for silverware by winning the Europa League, defeating Manchester United in the final. The London club, now led by new manager Thomas Frank, faces some key absences, with attacking midfielders James Maddison and Dejan Kulusevski sidelined by injury, and long-time star Son Heung-min recently sold to LAFC.

The match at Stadio Friuli in Udine marks Tottenham’s first appearance in the Super Cup. PSG have played in the competition once before, losing 9-2 on aggregate to Juventus over two legs in 1996.
PSG’s players have just returned to training following the extended season and the Club World Cup, which concluded in mid-July. Tottenham are expected to be more match-fit, having played a series of friendly matches, including games against Arsenal and Bayern Munich.

Tottenham players left without medals after Europa League final victory
Striker Son Heung-min was among the Tottenham players left without winner's medals during the awards ceremony for the Europa League final on Wednesday.
UEFA President Aleksander Čeferin appeared to be caught by surprise when the medals ran out before all Tottenham players had received them following the team's 1-0 win over Manchester United, AP reports.
UEFA later said that the problem occurred because Tottenham sent too many people to receive their medals during the ceremony.
Tottenham and Man United fans clash ahead of Europa League final
Soccer's European governing body said the clubs had been informed that only 30 medals would be presented on stage to each club. It said 20 further medals were given to the club following the ceremony for distribution to players and staff.
Son, who lifted the trophy in front of his teammates in the awards ceremony, was among the few players who didn't receive his medal on the field. It was Tottenham's first major title since 2008.

Tottenham and Man United fans clash ahead of Europa League final
Clashes between fans of Tottenham and Manchester United have been reported ahead of the Europa League final in Spain on Wednesday.
Confrontations took place in the center of Bilbao and in some nearby cities where many of the supporters were staying to avoid overpriced accommodation in the host city, AP reports.
More than 50,000 English fans were expected in the Basque Country city of Bilbao, according to local officials.
Europa League final: It's all or nothing for Man United and Tottenham
There were no reports of serious injuries in the confrontations, which happened mostly overnight as fans arrived.
Images reproduced by Spanish media showed the supporters clashing on the streets of Bilbao, with some throwing tables, trash bins, bottles and other objects at each other.
There were also reports of confrontations in San Sebastian and Santander, other Basque Country cities filled with English fans, many without tickets for the final.
UEFA this week warned fans about buying unauthorized tickets that were unlikely to get them into the stadium. The clubs were each allocated 15,000 tickets in the 50,000-capacity venue, with some priced at just 40 euros ($45).
Prices in the thousands of euros have been demanded on secondary ticketing websites.

Man United and Tottenham reach Europa League final and are one win away from Champions League
Despite both sides struggling in the lower half of the Premier League table, they now stand just one match away from Champions League qualification — the prize awaiting the Europa League winners.
The two underperforming English clubs booked their spots in the final of Europe's secondary competition on Thursday. Manchester United cruised to a 4-1 win over Athletic Bilbao at Old Trafford in the semifinal second leg, completing a dominant 7-1 aggregate victory. Tottenham secured their place with a 2-0 away win against Bodø/Glimt, progressing 5-1 on aggregate.
This sets the stage for another all-English Europa League final — the first since Chelsea defeated Arsenal in 2019 to claim the trophy.
“If we don’t win the final, it means nothing for us,” said United manager Ruben Amorim. “Managing this club is difficult to put into words. Our fans deserve something, especially after such a disappointing league season.”

In their comeback win over Bilbao, United overturned a 1-0 halftime deficit with Mason Mount scoring twice after coming on as a substitute. Casemiro and Rasmus Højlund also found the net.
Tottenham's goals in Norway came courtesy of Dominic Solanke and Pedro Porro, ensuring a comfortable progression to the final.
The final is in Bilbao on May 21.
“It’s an unbelievable feeling,” Spurs defender Micky van de Ven said. “We’ve had a tough season, but we’re one game away from winning silverware.”
A major title, alone, would be enough to salvage what has otherwise been a season to forget for both United and Spurs. But the added prize of a place in the lucrative Champions League would put the winner back among Europe’s elite next term.
That hasn’t looked likely for either team for most of the campaign as they have languished closer to the relegation zone than the top five.
United is 15th in the standings having lost a club record 16 games in the Premier League. It is also certain to record its worst-ever points total in the modern era, as well as its lowest finish.
For Tottenham, it’s even worse — sitting one place below United after a club record-equaling 19 losses in the Premier League.
Now, one of those teams has the chance to effectively erase their woeful domestic form by winning the final, which will be the fourth time they have faced each other this season.
Spurs won all three of the previous encounters — twice in the league and also in the English League Cup.
“We are struggling, both of us, so I don’t know what is going to happen,” Amorim said. “That is a good thing and a bad thing with this team. I never know.”
Mount double
United’s two-legged victory over Bilbao defied its performances for most of the season, which saw former coach Erik ten Hag fired in October and his replacement, Amorim, oversee 12 losses in 24 league games.
Bilbao, fourth in the Spanish league, trailed 3-0 from the first leg but mounted a fightback through Mikel Jauregizar’s curling long-range shot in the 31st minute at Old Trafford.
There were signs of nerves in United’s play as the visitors applied more pressure, but the introduction of Mount in the 62nd turned the game. He spun and curled a low shot past Bilbao goalkeeper Julen Agirrezabala 10 minutes after coming on.
Casemiro headed United in front in the 79th and Hojlund scored from close range in the 85th.
Mount got his second when he spotted Agirrezabala off his line in the first minute of stoppage time and fired home from near the halfway line.
It is United’s third Europa League final in eight years, having won the competition in 2017.
United won the FA Cup last year and the League Cup in 2023 and this would be a third trophy-winning season in a row.
It would also be Amorim’s first for the club after winning two Portuguese league titles with Sporting Lisbon. He described it as “massive.”
“For me it’s the most important because it’s the next one,” he said.

Arsenal closes in on Premier League leader Liverpool after 2-1 win over Tottenham
Arsenal closed the gap on Premier League leader Liverpool to four points after a 2-1 victory over Tottenham on Wednesday.
Mikel Arteta’s team took advantage of Liverpool’s draw with Nottingham Forest on Tuesday, with Leandro Trossard firing the winner in the north London derby at the Emirates Stadium.
“Everybody knows you need to win these games, the fans are buzzing and it’s a great night for us,” Trossard said. “It’s an amazing feeling, especially to get the winner as well, it had to come and now we need to look forward.”
Arsenal was runner-up to Manchester City in the last two seasons and is in contention for the title again this year. But it was given a fright by Spurs when Son Heung-min opened the scoring for the visitors in the 25th minute.
A Dominic Solanke own goal when trying to defend a corner leveled the game in the 40th and Trossard struck low from just inside the box four minutes later to put Arsenal ahead.
Liverpool still has a game in hand on second-place Arsenal but has dropped points by drawing its last two league matches and is on a run of just one win in four in all competitions. That was against fourth-division Accrington Stanley in the FA Cup.
Arsenal bounced back quickly after the disappointment of being knocked out of the FA Cup by Manchester United on penalties and opened up a two-point lead over Forest in third.
“Less than 72 hours ago we played 120 minutes in another competition that we went out of — that is not easy psychologically. So the way we performed and played today was exceptional,” Arteta said.
Tottenham has won just one of its last nine games in the league.

“The losses hurt me but they aren’t acceptable. We have had too many losses this year and too many games that have got away from us. That needs to stop,” head coach Ange Postecoglou said.
Isak on target again
Alexander Isak scored for the eighth straight league game to propel Newcastle into the top four.
The Sweden international struck twice in a 3-0 victory over Wolverhampton to take his season total to 17 in all competitions. He became the fourth player to score in eight consecutive games in the Premier League, following Ruud van Nistelrooy, Jamie Vardy and Daniel Sturridge.
Vardy scored a league record 11-straight games.
“Like most strikers, Isak wants to practice his finishing. It is an art form. He is there after training every day trying to do more,” Newcastle manager Eddie Howe said.
Isak's form has pushed Newcastle into Champions League contention. He's scored 12 in his last 10 games in all competitions and Newcastle is on a nine-match winning streak.
Isak opened the scoring in the 34th against relegation-threatened Wolverhampton at St James' Park. He got his second in the 57th and Anthony maintained his own scoring form with his fourth goal in successive games.
Howe's team is now one point ahead of fifth-place Chelsea.
Unhappy homecoming for Moyes
David Moyes' return to Everton didn't get off to the start he wanted after a 1-0 loss to Aston Villa.
In his second spell at the Merseyside club, Moyes took charge of his 519th game as Everton manager and was welcomed by the Goodison Park crowd.
But he couldn't inspire his relegation-threatened team to victory as Ollie Watkins' goal six minutes into the second half sealed Villa's win.
Everton is 16th in the standings and a point above the bottom three.
Moyes' immediate priority is to find goals from somewhere. Everton has failed to score in nine of its last 11 league games.
Leicester slumping
The hiring of Ruud van Nistelrooy hasn't paid off for Leicester yet.
A 2-0 loss at home to Crystal Palace leaves the 2016 champion second from bottom of the standings and without a league win since Van Nistelrooy's first game in charge at the start of December.

It's now six straight defeats in the league, with Jean-Philippe Mateta and Marc Guehi scoring for Palace in the second half at the King Power Stadium.
“Six without a win is not good enough. You can’t keep talking about performances. We need to win and that needs to happen soon,” Van Nistelrooy said.
United drops
Manchester United doesn't play until Thursday, but Palace's win saw the record 20-time champion slip to 15th in the standings.
Ruben Amorim's team plays last-place Southampton at Old Trafford.

Golden Boot-chasing Kane leads Tottenham to win over Wolves
Harry Kane endured a frustrating match in his bid to win the Premier League’s Golden Boot for the third time despite scoring in Tottenham’s 2-0 win over Wolverhampton on Sunday.
Kane’s 45th-minute goal moved him to a league-leading 22 for the season — one clear of Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah — but the England captain also struck the post twice and had an effort cleared off the line.
Kane has two games left while Salah has three, starting with West Bromwich Albion later Sunday. Kane was the league’s top scorer in the 2015-16 and 2016-17 seasons.
Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, who set up Kane for the opening goal with a piercing through-ball, added the second in the 64th minute by tapping in a rebound from close range after Gareth Bale’s shot was saved.
Tottenham moved into sixth place, above West Ham on goal difference, and still has a mathematical — if highly unlikely — chance of finishing in the top four in the race for Champions League qualification after winning three of its last four league games under interim manager Ryan Mason. The team is five points behind fourth-place Chelsea.
“We are not happy with where we are, we should be higher and we only have ourselves to blame,” Tottenham midfielder Dele Alli said.
“We are showing now what we can do but it is a bit too late. We just have to keep working hard and take it into the next season as well.”
Kane could easily have had a hat trick at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, with the striker curling a long-range shot from distance against the base of the post in the fifth minute and then beating goalkeeper Rui Patricio to a high ball only to see his header cleared off the line by backpedaling defender Conor Coady.
Off a sharp counterattack early in the second half, Alli slipped a ball through for Kane but his low shot was tipped onto the post by Patricio. Alli latched onto the rebound but struck the follow-up against the other post.
“Excellent,” Mason said of Tottenham’s display. “We created lots of chances and the score line was probably a bit flattering to them. There were big moments, their keeper made a couple of good saves, we hit the post three times and dominated the game in the second half, so really pleased.”
