Bangladesh voter count hits 12.76 crore
The number of registered voters in Bangladesh has reached approximately 12.76 crore, according to the draft updated electoral rolls released by the Election Commission (EC) on Sunday.
The total number of the country’s voters is 12,76,12,384.
Of them, 6,47,60,382 are male, 6,28,50,772 are female, and 1,230 are from the third gender voters, said EC Senior Secretary Akhtar Ahmed told a press briefing at Nirbachan Bhaban in the city.
Final voter lists to be published Nov 18
The draft electoral rolls will be finalised on November 18 ahead of the 13th parliamentary election by receiving and settling complaints, if any, over the draft list.
The EC secretary said the number of voters increased by 13,04,880 between September 1, 2025 and October 31, 2025.
The number of male voters is 19,09,610 higher than that of female voters in the country’s electoral rolls. “Those who turned 18 by October 31 last and completed their registration have been included in the voter lists,” he said.
EC launches NID, voter registration services for Bangladeshis in Canada
The EC will receive any objection and recommendation over the draft electoral rolls by November 17 and release the final lists ahead of the next general election to be held in early February 2026.
Earlier, on August 31, the EC had released a supplementary voter list showing 12,63,07,504 total voters, including 6,41,00,455 males, 6,22,05,819 females, and 1,230 third-gender voters.

EC Sanaullah urges officials to maintain honesty in voter registration process
Election Commissioner Brig Gen Abul Fazal Md Sanaullah (retd) has said that preparing and preserving an accurate voter list is the collective responsibility of all.
“It is our collective responsibility to prepare and preserve an accurate voter list, as even a single vote can determine the outcome of an election,” he said during a meeting on updating voter lists with regional election officials at Khulna deputy commissioner’s office on Wednesday.
He emphasised raising awareness about the significance of voter registration as a fundamental duty of citizens.
Addressing election officials from various districts, the chief guest highlighted the importance of maintaining honesty and integrity in the voter registration process.
"Ensuring the voting rights of citizens without bias is paramount. Eligible individuals, especially women, must be encouraged to register as voters," he said.

Khulna Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Saiful Islam presided over the event.
Additional Secretary of the Election Commission Secretariat KM Ali Newaz, Khulna Regional Election Officer Md Humayun Kabir and Superintendent of Police T M Mosharraf Hossain addressed the meeting as special guests.

11.91 crore voters in Bangladesh now: EC
According to the Election Commission's final updated electoral roll, the number of voters in the country has now increased to 11,91,51,440 following inclusion of some new voters last year.
The EC disclosed the updated voter numbers this morning, on the occasion of National Voter Day.
According to EC's factsheet, a total of 58,64,430 new voters were enlisted in the country's voter list.
Of the total voters, 6,04,45,724 are male and 5,87,04,879 are female.

Besides, 837 transgender voters were incorporated under the identity of the third gender in the updated roll.
The voter growth is 5.18%, according to EC.

EC starts receiving applications for settling objections to draft voter list
The Election Commission on Monday started receiving applications for settling the objections to the draft of the updated voter list .
The Commission informed that they will receive applications till January 31 andsettle the objections within February 7.

The total number of voters in the country is now over 11.50 crore as the Election Commission on Sunday released a draft of the updated voter list with 57.74 lakh new voters.
The total number of voters in the final voter list published on March 2 last year was 11,32,87,010 which has increased to 11,90,61,158 this year.
The total voter growth rate this time stands at 5.10 percent.
In a letter sent by the Election Commission to the field level officials on December 11 last, everyone was instructed to send the draft list on January 15. Every year the draft list is published on January 2 but this time it did not happen.
There is a provision to update the voter list from January 2 to March 2 as per the voter list rules, EC officials said.

According to the provision, the final list is published on March 2 after settling the objections to the draft list.
This time, the release of the draft voter list has been delayed, but the schedule of the final list will remain unchanged.

Women voter number declines in Bangladesh
The number of voters in Bangladesh has increased to 11.17 crore (111.7 million) with the inclusion of 19 lakh fresh voters in the last one year, but the share of female voters has slightly declined to 49.33 percent from the previous 49.48 percent.
