BPL Football:Champions Dhaka Mohammedan concede 2nd defeat losing to Rahmatganj MFS 3-4
Newly crowned Dhaka Mohammedan SC conceded 2nd defeat in the 10-team Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) Football losing to mediocre Rahmatganj MFS by 3-4 goals at the Shaheed Dhirendranath Datta Stadium in Cumilla on Wednesday.
Mohammedan SC tasted the first defeat against lowly Youngmen's Club Fakirerpool in the last match of the first phase league and they played draw with Dhaka Abahani and Fortis FC in the 2nd phase of the ongoing league.
The match between Mohammedan and Rahmatganj was abandoned after 18 minutes on Tuesday for unplayable ground following inclement weather when Dhaka Mohammedan SC were leading by 2-1 goals.
The traditional black and white Mohammedan SC, which assured their first- ever professional league crown with three matches to spare last Saturday, today appeared the field at 1:15 pm to play the remaining part of 72 minutes and conceded three goals in the time scoring only one.
Ghana forward Samuel Boateng, who scored one goal on Tuesday, today (Wednesday) completed a hattrick for Rahmatganj MFS scoring three goals while Tajuddin netted the remaining goal for Rahmatganj MFS.
Long serving Mali booter Souleymane Diabate struck twice and Nigerian Emmanuel Sunday scored one goal for Mohammedan.

In the day's other match, Dhaka Abahani Limited consolidated their claim for the league runners-up position outplaying relegated side Chittagong Abahani Limited by 5-0 goals also at the Shaheed Dhirendranath Datta Stadium in Cumilla Wednesday afternoon.
Enamul Islam Gazi scored twice, Emeka Ogbugh , Asaduzzaman Bablu, Raphael Augusto scored one each for Dhaka Abahani.
The day's another match between Fortis FC and Police FC ended in 1-1 draw at the Bashundhara Kings Arena on Wednesday.
Al Amin put Police FC ahead in the 44th minute while Gambian striker Pa Omar Babou leveled the margin for Fortis SC in the 67th minute.

BPL Football : Dhaka Mohammedan win first-ever title as Dhaka Abahani concede 1-2 defeat against Fortis FC
Dhaka Mohammedan SC smartly clinched their first- ever title since the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) started as the top tier of football in the country, with three matches to spare as their arch rivals Dhaka Abahani Limited conceded defeat against Fortis SC in Cumilla on Saturday.
Lowly Fortis Football Club arranged the party for the traditional black and whites Mohammedan in the day's 15th round match beating six times champions Dhaka Abahani Ltd by 2-1 goals at the Shaheed Dhirendranath Datta Stadium in Cumilla this afternoon .
This is the first professional league and the Dhaka domestic league title for Mohammedan SC after 22 years since 2002.
Earlier on Friday, Dhaka Mohammedan FC completed the ground works for their maiden professional league crown securing 38 points from 15 matches outplaying relegated side Chittagong Abahani Limited by 4-1 goals at the same venue Friday afternoon.
After the day's debacle, Dhaka Abahani Ltd are now battling for the league runners up position with 28 points while Fortis FC remained at the 7th slot in the 10 team league securing 22 points, playing 15 matches each.
BPL Football: Dhaka Mohammedan close to their first-ever title beating Chattagram Abahani
In the day's match, Gambian forward Pa Omar Babou put Fortis SC ahead in the 39th minute from a penalty to dominate the first half (1-0).
Fortis FC were restricted to 10- man in the 75th minute as their defender Manjurur Rahman got marching order after receiving direct red card .
Despite of one man short, midfielder Sajed Hasan Jummon increased the Fortis margin in the 77th minute (2-0).
However, defender Yeasin Khan pulled the Abahani margin one back in the 80th minute scoring a consolation goal (2-1)
In the day's other match, Rahmatganj Muslim Friends Society advanced to the 4th slot in the league table beating Dhaka Wanders Club by 3-1 goals at the Shaheed Barkat Stadium in Gazipur Saturday afternoon.
With the day's well merited victory, Rahmatganj MFS advanced to 4th slot secured 23 points toppling Brothers Union and Police FC, also have same points.
Samuel Boateng scored first for Rahmatganj in the very 2nd minute from a penalty (1-0), Mehahi Hasan doubled the margin in the 35th minute (2-0).

BPL Football: 9th round begins Friday with leaders Mohammedan taking on Youngmen’s Club
The 9th round of Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) Football begins on Friday (Jan 24) with league leader Dhaka Mohammedan SC taking on lowly Youngmen’s Club Fakirerpool at 2:45pm at the Shaheed Dhirendranath Dutta Stadium in Cumilla in one of the three matches on the day.
Defending champions Bashundhara Kings will play Dhaka Wanderers Club also at 2:45pm at the Shaheed Barkat Stadium in Gazipur while Rahmatganj MFS will face Bangladesh Police FC in the day’s other fixture also at 2:45 pm at the Rafiq Uddin Bhuiyan Stadium in Mymensingh.

After the 8th round matches, Dhaka Mohammedan SC Ltd comfortably dominated the 10-team league table with all-win record as the lone team securing full 24 points, the six-time champions Dhaka Abahani Limited followed the leaders distantly collecting 19 points.
The old Dhaka outfit Rahmatganj MFS remained at distant 3rd place bagging 15 points while defending champions Bashundhara Kings and once giant Brothers Union Club are struggling at the 4th and 5th slots respectively, collecting 14 points each.

Fed Cup Football: Dhaka Abahani brighten chance to reach qualifying round beating Mohammedan 1-0
In a titans battle, Dhaka Abahani Limited, without any foreign booters, upset their traditional rivals Dhaka Mohammedan SC beating them by 1-0 goal in the Federation Cup Football at the Shaheed Dhirendranath Dutta Stadium in Cumilla Tuesday afternoon.
After a barren first half, forward Mohammad Ibrahim scored the match winning goal for sky-blue Dhanmondi outfit Abahani in the 74th minute ((1-0)).
With the day's well merited victory with the limited resources, Dhaka Abahani not only assured their berth in next round (qualifiers/eliminator), but also took sweet revenge of their 0-1 goal defeat against Mohammedan in the 3rd round of ongoing BPL football, also in Cumilla last month.
After the match, Dhaka Abahani Ltd are in the 2nd slot in Group B with all- win record securing full six points from straight two matches while Rahmatganj MFS topped group list also with all-win run by better goal differences despite of collecting six points from two outings.
With the day's debacle, the next round berth of traditional black & whites Mohammedan now became uncertain with three points from three matches.

Former champions Dhaka Abahani Limited made a winning start while last time's runners up Dhaka Mohammedan SC conceded defeat in the 10-team Federation Cup Football at two separate venues across the country on Tuesday.
Dhaka Mohammedan SC, which shocked last season's treble winners Bashundhara Kings beating them by 1-0 goal in a BPL match last week, today (Tuesday) made a frustrating journey in Fed Cup Football losing to Rahmatganj MFS by 0-1 goal at the Bashundhara Kings Arena.
This was the 2nd successive defeat for traditional black and whites Mohammedan at the Basundhara Kings Arena (ground) this season after conceding 1-3 defeat against the Kings in the one-match Challenge Cup Football recently.
Rajon Hawlader scored the match winning goal for the old Dhaka outfit Rahmatganj in the 83rd minute by an angular rebound shot (1-0).
Rahmatganj started the season brilliantly winning all three matches after winning two consecutive BPL matches..
Although, Rahmatganj winning the day' s match, but Mohammedan SC played a better game and they did everything except scoring goal from half dozen of good opportunities.
Rahmatganj goalkeeper Mamun Alif also performed brilliantly under the bar and foiled a series of Mohammedan good attempts.

BPL Football: Muktijoddha upset Mohammedan 2-1
Muktijoddha Sangsad upset Dhaka Mohammedan 2-1 in the 20th round match of the 12-team Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) Football at the Sheikh Fazlul Haque Moni Stadium in Gopalganj Thursday.
Burundian forward Sudi Abdullah scored both goals for Muktijoddha in the 26th and 69th minutes. Nigerian midfielder Ugochukwu Obi Moneka pulled one back for the Black and Whites in the 89th.
With the day's victory, Muktijoddha moved to the 10th spot in the league table after securing 15 points from 20 matches. Dhaka Mohammedan remained in the fifth spot with 29 points from 20 matches.
In the day's other match, former champions Sheikh Russel outplayed Bangladesh Police 4-1 at the Bashundhara Sports Complex in Dhaka.
Nigerian forward Ismahil Akinade scored twice for Sheikh Russel in the 45th and 56th minutes, Ghanaian striker Richard Gadze and Ivory Coast player Didier Brossou scored one each in the 49th and 70th minutes.
Amiruddin Sharifi scored a consolation goal for Police in the 51st minute.
Despite the day's win, Sheikh Russel remained in the 8th spot after securing 25 points from 20 matches and Police in sixth place with 29 points from 20 matches.

After the day's 20th round matches, Swadhinata (9 points), Uttara Baridhara (14 points) and Muktijoddha (15 points) and Rahmatganj MFS (18 points) are left looking over their shoulders at the relegation trap door.
Earlier, Bashundhara Kings stormed past Saif Sporting 2-0 to lift their third Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) Football title in a row winning a fierce encounter at Bir Shrestha Matiur Rahman Stadium in Munshiganj Monday.
Before Monday's match, the Kings earned 49 points in 19 matches. They needed just one win in their remaining three matches against Saif Monday, Dhaka Abahani on July 24 and Sheikh Jamal on July 30 to lift the title for the third time in a row after Dhaka Abahani.
The Sky Blue Brigade clinched the BPL title for a record six times, including three times in a row.
The Kings were crowned champions after securing 51 points from 20 matches with 16 wins, three draws and one loss.
Independence Cup and Federation Cup champions Dhaka Abahani secured 44 points from 20 matches.

BPL Football: Mohammedan beat Sheikh Jamal 3-1 to return to winning ways
Dhaka Mohammedan returned to winning ways in the 12-team Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) Football after outplaying three times champions Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi 3-1 at the Shaheed Dhirendranath Datta Stadium in Cumilla Monday.
Mohammedan suffered a 2-4 defeat against their arch-rivals Dhaka Abahani in their last match at the same venue Wednesday.
In the day's match, local midfielder Sheikh Morsalin put Mohammedan ahead in the 34th minute (1-0).

Sheikh Jamal restored parity in the 38th minute when Mohammedan's Malian striker Souleymane Diabate scored an own goal while trying to block a dangerous shot (1-1).
However, Souleymane compensated for his mistake by scoring two goals in the 43rd and 83rd minutes, both from penalties (3-1).
Despite Monday's win, Mohammedan remained at the sixth spot in the league table, securing 25 points from 17 matches. Sheikh Jamal remained at the fourth spot with 30 points from as many matches.

Defending champions and table topper Bashundhara Kings secured 44 points from 17 matches, nine points ahead of the second-placed Dhaka Abahani.
Six times champions Dhaka Abahani earned 35 points from 16 matches and third-placed Saif DC secured 30 points from 16 matches.
