Army, Navy, Air chiefs visit Khaleda at Evercare
The chiefs of Army, Navy and Air on Tuesday night (December 02, 2025) visited ailing BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia at Evercare Hospital in Dhaka.
According to Inter Services Public Relation (ISPR), chief of Army Staff General Waker-Uz-Zaman, chief of Naval Admiral M Nazmul Hassan, chief of Air Marshal Hasan Mahmood Khan visited the former prime minister.

Several political leaders and others are visiting Khaleda Zia who has been undergoing treatment at the hospital since November 23.
Meanwhile, two specialist medical teams from the UK and China are scheduled to arrive in Dhaka on Wednesday morning (December 03, 2025) to support the medical board formed to ensure treatment of the BNP chairperson.

Pakistani naval ship ‘PNS Saif’ docks in Ctg port amid efforts to rebuild bilateral ties
Pakistan Navy ship ‘PNS Saif’ (FFG-253) arrived at Chittagong Port on Saturday (8th November 2025) on a four-day goodwill visit to Bangladesh, as both countries seem to rebuild ties after decades of cold relations.
Chief Staff Officer of Commander Chattogram Naval Area received the vessel on behalf of the Commander, Chattogram Naval Area.
A well-decorated naval band of the Bangladesh Navy performed ceremonial tunes in keeping with naval tradition.
Officials from the Pakistan High Commission in Dhaka and senior officers of the Bangladesh Navy were also present to welcome the visiting ship and its team.
Dhaka eyes new horizons in partnership with Kathmandu
Earlier, upon entering Bangladesh’s maritime boundary, the ship was welcomed at sea by Bangladesh Navy ship BNS Shadhinota.
During the visit, the commanding officer of ‘PNS Saif’ and other members of the delegation are scheduled to pay courtesy calls on Commander Chattogram Naval Area, Commander BN Fleet, and Area Superintendent Dockyard.
Officers, sailors, and trainees from the visiting ship will also visit various historic and tourist sites, naval ships and establishments in Chattogram.
In turn, officers and sailors of the Bangladesh Navy will visit PNS Saif.
The ship is scheduled to depart Bangladesh on November 12, 2025.

Ctg Dry Dock takes over New Mooring Container Terminal operation
Chittagong Dry Dock Limited under Bangladesh Navy took over the responsibility of operating much-discussed the New Mooring Container Terminal (NCT) at Chittagong port on Sunday midnight ending Saif Powertec’s 17-year operation of the facility.
Chittagong Port Authority transferred the terminal to Chittagong Dry Dock Limited, a ship yard managed by the Navy, for six months at midnight, port officials said.
“NCT operations have been handed over to Chattogram Dry Dock following government instructions and approval from the Port Authority's board meeting,” said Chattogram Port Secretary Omar Faruk.
He said a six-month agreement has been signed with Chattogram Dry Dock to run the terminal which came into effect from Monday.
Chittagong Dry Dock Limited, formerly an enterprise of Bangladesh Steel & Engineering Corporation, was created as a complementary facility to Chittagong Port Authority (CPA) to cater regular and emergency repair needs of the national flag carrier vessels as well as vessels those touch Chittagong Port.
Chittagong Port should be run with domestic resources: GOC
On 23rd December 2015, CDDL was handed over to Bangladesh Navy (BN) and now being operated under the management of BN as state owned limited company.
The CDDL will initially be responsible for managing NCT for six months under the direct procurement method.
Saif Powertec Managing Director Tarafder Ruhul Amin said they have officially handed over NCT to the Navy but continue operations at Chittagong Container Terminal (CCT) under a separate agreement.
Chattogram port has four container terminals — Chittagong Container Terminal (CCT), New Mooring Container Terminal (NCT), General Cargo Berth (GCB, handling container and bulk cargo) and Patenga Container Terminal (PCT).
NCT alone handled 44 percent of the 3.2 million TEUs of containers managed by Chattogram port in the 2024-25 fiscal year.
Saif Powertec had been operating NCT since 2007.

Navy, coast guard recover weapons, cash in Teknaf joint operation
Bangladesh Navy and the Coast Guard in a joint operation raided the house of suspected criminal Harun Dakat in Alikhali under Hnila union of Teknaf upazila on Wednesday night.
During the raid, law enforcers recovered a locally made firearm, six rounds of live ammunition, five sharp weapons, over Tk 30 lakh in cash, gold ornaments, multiple cheque books, and 20 SIM cards, according to a press release from the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).
Journalist Harassment: 3 suspects held
The recovered items have been handed over to Teknaf police station, while the process of transferring the seized cash and gold to the Teknaf Customs Office is underway, it said.
It also added that the navy continues to conduct regular operations in key areas to maintain law and order across the country.

Human trafficker, 18 Rohingyas held in Cox’s Bazar
Members of Bangladesh Navy have arrested 19 people including a human trafficker for their alleged attempt to go to Malaysia illegally from Kacchapia in Teknaf upazila of Cox’s Bazar district.
Tipped off, a Navy team conducted a drive in the area early Tuesday and arrested them, said a press release of Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).

Naval chief stresses maritime security for economic prosperity
Bangladesh Navy Chief Admiral M Nazmul Hassan on Wednesday said that the country's economic well-being and the safety of the Bay of Bengal's littorals depend on maintaining maritime security.
Speaking as the chief guest at a discussion, he reiterated the significance of Bangladesh’s active participation at multiple platforms in securing the Bay.
The Bangladesh Institute of International and Strategic Studies (BIISS) organised the roundtable titled "Maritime Security in the Bay of Bengal: Emerging Threats and Strategies of Bangladesh."
BIISS Chairman Ambassador AFM Gosal Azam Sarker chaired the event, while Director General Major General Iftekhar Anis delivered the welcome address.
BIISS Research Fellow Moutusi Islam was the keynote speaker and delivered a presentation on “Emerging Maritime Security Threats in the Bay of Bengal: Unfolding the Multi-Level Strategies.”
Prof Dr Rashed Uz Zaman of Dhaka University's Department of International Relations presented on “Maritime Security in the Bay of Bengal: Geopolitical and Strategic Implications,” while Rear Admiral Mohammad Musa, Assistant Chief of Naval Staff (Personal) and Chairman of BIMRAD, discussed “Emerging Maritime Security in the Bay of Bengal: Policy Options and Strategies of Bangladesh.”
An open discussion session was held participated by relevant experts on maritime security.

Bangladesh Navy, Air Force again recognised as symbols of trust: Prof Yunus
Chief Adviser Prof Muhammad Yunus on Sunday said Bangladesh Navy and Air Force have once again been recognised as symbols of trust by the people of the country.
He said Bangladesh Navy and Air Force have stood by the people of the country at the critical juncture of the country.
The Chief Adviser inaugurated the Bangladesh ‘Navy and Air Force Selection Board-2024' at the Air Force Headquarters.
In this promotion board, eligible officers holding the ranks of Captain, Commander and Lieutenant Commander of the Bangladesh Navy and Group Captain, Wing Commander and Squadron Leader of the Air Force will be considered for further promotion.
Rohingya Crisis: Prof Yunus seeks urgent int’l conf to find solution
Prof Yunus said the officers with honesty and principle and other leadership qualities deserve the promotion.
The Chief Adviser directed to select the officers for promotion who have been successful in providing competent leadership in various activities of military life.
Prof Yunus welcomed everyone in Bangladesh created by the student-people's revolution.
He remembered all the martyrs with deep respect who sacrificed their lives during the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement in July-August.
Prof Yunus also recalled all the brave soldiers, including the martyrs of the armed forces who participated in the great War of Independence, whose sacrifice the nation will forever remember with respect.
Army Chief calls on Chief Adviser Prof Yunus
The Chief Adviser instructed the members of the Selection Board to emphasise the professional skills, leadership qualities, standards of discipline, honesty, trustworthiness and loyalty and above all, suitability for employment of the officers for promotion.
Upon arrival at the programme venue, the Chief Adviser was welcomed by Chief of Bangladesh Navy Admiral M Nazmul Hassan and Air Chief Marshal Hasan Mahmood Khan, according to the ISPR press release.
The chiefs of the Navy and Air Force expressed their gratitude and thanks to the Chief Adviser for coming to inaugurate the Board despite his busy schedule.
The ceremony was attended by senior officers of the Navy and Air Force, the Special Assistant to the Chief Advisor on Defense, Principal Staff Officer of the Armed Forces Division and the Defense Secretary.
Prof Yunus for creating "safe zone guaranteed by UN" for displaced people in Rakhine
At the end of the ceremony, the Chief Adviser participated in a photograph with the senior officers of the Navy and Air Force present and recorded his comments in the visitor’s book.
He later planted a sapling in the premises of the Air Force Headquarters.

Bangladesh Navy detains two foreign fishing trawlers for illegal intrusion
The Bangladesh Navy has apprehended two foreign fishing trawlers and 31 individuals for illegally entering the country’s waters.
The vessels were seized on Tuesday afternoon by the warship BNS Shahid Akhtar Uddin during a routine patrol in the Bay of Bengal, near Kuakata, as reported by the ISPR on Wednesday.
Bangladesh Navy deploys 67 personnel to UNMISS in South Sudan
All detainees are foreign nationals and have been transferred to the Kalapara Police Station, where legal proceedings are underway.
However, the Navy has not disclosed details about the detainees.

Body of Navy person recovered 8 hrs after going missing in Muhuri River
The body of a member of Bangladesh Navy who went missing while taking a bath in the Muhuri River in Feni on Saturday (April 20, 2024) afternoon has been recovered after more than 8 hours.
The deceased Abul Hasan was the son of Abul Khair of Dhanikunda village of Parshuram upazila. He was posted at Chittagong Naval Basecamp.
Abul Hasan along with his friends went to take a bath at the ghat adjacent to Nazir's house on the Muhuri river around 2pm on Saturday for some relief from the scorching heat.

Suddenly, Abul Hasan presumably drowned and went missing. Failing to find him, his friends informed the Parashuram Fire Service.
Despite a lot of searching, the members of the Fire Service failed to rescue the missing Abul Hasan.
Later, a diving team from Chattogram joined the rescue operation and managed to recover the body around 9:20pm.
Mohammad Shahadat Hossain Khan, officer-in-charge (OC) of Parashuram Police Station, said the body would be sent to Feni General Hospital morgue for an autopsy.
