Russian House in Dhaka celebrates the 80th Anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War
The Russian House in Dhaka, in cooperation with the Association of Russian Compatriots "Rodina," held large-scale historical and patriotic events as part of the commemorative program for the 80th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War — the "Immortal Regiment" and the "St. George Ribbon" campaigns.
The ceremonial inauguration was attended by the Ambassador of the Russian Federation to the People’s Republic of Bangladesh, G. Khozin, the Director of the Russian House in Dhaka, P. Dvoychenkov, representatives of the “Rodina” Association, and the "Academy of the Liberation War" Foundation.
In their speeches, they noted that the "Immortal Regiment" campaign has become a global historical initiative, unprecedented in scale, and a unique example of civic unity.
Following the speeches, a motor rally took place through the central streets of Dhaka, involving more than 200 motorcycles and cars.

Volunteers carried an 80-meter-long "St. George Ribbon" along the rally route while distributing Victory Day symbols to passersby and explaining their significance.
The campaign sparked wide public interest and drew warm responses from local residents expressing their goodwill toward Russia.
In recent years, the "Immortal Regiment" and the "St. George Ribbon" campaigns have become regular events in Dhaka, attracting growing attention and participation from Bangladeshi citizens.
In 2025, over 600 people took part in the celebrations, including journalists, compatriots, volunteers, Bangladeshi university students, members of the Association of Soviet Alumni of Bangladesh, representatives of the Bangladesh Liberation War Veterans’ Foundation, staff of the Russian Embassy in Bangladesh, and many other members of Dhaka’s society.

Great Patriotic War: Russian House, SAAB mark 77th anniversary of Soviet Union's victory
The Russian House in Dhaka and Soviet Alumni Association Bangladesh (SAAB) have hosted a programme to commemorate the 77th anniversary of the then Soviet Union's victory in the Great Patriotic War.
Russian Ambassador to Bangladesh AV Mantytskiy, SAAB President Taqsem Ahmed Khan, Bangladesh-Russia Friendship Society General Secretary Professor Shahidullah Sikder, Russian House Director Dobrokhotov, NGO representatives, and the Association of the Russian Compatriots in Bangladesh “Rodina” attended the discussion Friday.

The participants honoured the memory of 27 million Soviet people who laid down their lives in the fight against Nazi Germany.
They noted the decisive contribution of Soviet Union in liberating the world from the "brown plague" and called for stopping all attempts to revive the fascist ideology, said a media statement Saturday.
The event ended with a solemn concert and the opening ceremony of the Great Patriotic War exhibition.
