A 35-year-old man who was  shot and hacked by some miscreants in Khulna city on Sunday night died early Monday. The deceased is Md Aziz, son of Khalilur Rahman and a resident of Bagmara Main Road in the city. Witnesses said three miscreants wearing helmets arrived at the spot, shot and hacked Aziz and then fled quickly, leaving him  injured. Deputy Commissioner of Police (South)  of Khulna Metropolitan Police (KMP) Tajul Islam said police rushed to the scene after receiving information . He said Aziz sustained gunshot injuries and had multiple hacking marks on different parts of his body. He succumbed to his injuries around 2 am when was being taken to Dhaka for better treatment. “We learned that Aziz was a member of a group and had rivalry with another group. He had been shot in an earlier incident as well. Police recovered two bullet shells from the scene,” Tajul added. Jubo Dal activist stabbed to death in Khulna Police said he was wanted in three cases. Police are trying to identify and arrest those involved in the killing.  

A 32-year-old businessman returning home with his wife on his bike died after being shot by two men near Kapalia Bridge of Khulna on Thursday night, police said. The deceased was identified as Khandaker Rafiqul Islam, son of Mahabub Mistri of Alka village under Phultala upazila. He was also the sports affairs secretary of Phultala Bazar Banik Kalyan Society.  Police said the two assailants shot Rafiqul around 8pm while he and his wife Barsha alias Piari Begum were returning home from Abhaynagar.  Also Read: Indigenous man shot dead in Rangamati "He was rushed to Phultala upazila health complex where doctors declared him dead on arrival. Barsha also sustained bullet injuries in the attack," a police officer said. Barsha has been shifted to Khulna Medical College Hospital for better treatment, he said. Phultala Bazar Banik Kalyan Society has demanded exemplary punishment for the killers. Illias Talukder, officer-in-charge of Phultala police station, said that the body was sent to Khulna Medical College Hospital morgue for an autopsy.    

A college student was stabbed to death at Naihati in Rupsha upazila of Khulna on Saturday night. 

Two people were shot dead while nine others were injured in a clash between two local groups over establishing supremacy on Thursday night in Moshiali area under Khanjahan Ali Police Station in Khulna.
