Murder case accused shot dead in Khulna

A man accused in a murder case was shot dead by assailants in Khulna. The incident occurred around 11:15 pm behind the Baghmara Markazul Ulum Madrasa in the city. The deceased, identified as Sheikh Shahinul Haque Shaheen (50), was a resident of Doulatpur Kattikkul, said Khulna Police Station Officer-in-Charge Howlader Sanowar Hossain Masum. He had been evading arrest and was reportedly hiding in different locations, said the OC. Police were notified after the body of a man was found behind the madrasa. Upon reaching the scene, officers confirmed the identity of the deceased as Shaheen. Reports indicated that the assailants shot him in the ear, with the bullet passing through his head and exiting. He died at the scene. The body was sent to Khulna Medical College Hospital for an autopsy, the police official said. The police have launched operations in Baghmara and nearby areas to arrest those responsible for the murder.

Student stabbed dead on college premises in Khulna

A first year student of higher secondary level of Phultala M.M. College in Khulna was stabbed dead by some unknown assailants on the college premises Thursday noon. The deceased was identified as Alif Hossain, son of Taher Tutl of Kasba village in Phultala upazila. Later locals rescued him with severe injuries and took him to upazila health complex,” said Ilias Talukder, Officer-in-Charge of Phultala police station. Alif was transferred to Khulna Medical College Hospital where he died, said the OC. The killers are yet to be identfied but efforts are on to arrest them as soon as possible, he said.

AL activist hacked dead in Khulna

A 45-year-old man was hacked to death in Dighalia upazila of Khulna early Monday. The deceased was identified as Yasin Sheikh, 45. The victim's family claimed that he was killed in an attack by rivals centering the election. According to locals, he was stabbed at 3 am by unidentified criminals. Later they rushed him to Dighalia upazila health complex where a doctor declared him dead. Officer-in charge of Dighalia Police Station(Investigation) said police have launched an operation to arrest the attackers.
