A 22-year-old student of Khulna University was shot dead by miscreants at Tetultala in Khulna city on Friday night. The deceased was identified as Arnab Kumar Sarkar, an MBA student of Business Administration faculty of the university and son of Nitish Kumar Sarkar of Basupara area in the city. Quoting witnesses, Mohammad Ahsan Habib, additional deputy commissioner (media), said a group of armed miscreants, riding 10-15 motorbikes, opened fire on Arnab when he was sipping  tea at Tetultala intersection around 10:15 pm, leaving him injured. Later, they stabbed him indiscriminately and fled the scene. Arnab was taken to Khulna City Medical College and Hospital where doctors declared him dead. Khulna AL leader shot dead at Cox’s Bazar beach Shafiqul Islam, officer-in-charge of Sonadanga Police Station, said the reason behind the murder could not be known yet and police were investigating the incident.  

A recently elected member of Shundoli Union Parishad in Jashore was shot dead by some unidentified miscreants on Monday night. The deceased was identified as Uttam Kumar Sarkar, son of Oshantu Sarkar of Harishpur village in the Sundoli upazila. On December 26, Uttam was elected member of ward-1 of the Sundoli UP. The incident occurred around 8:30 pm on the road adjacent to Harishpur Government Primary School. According to witnesses, some miscreants attacked Uttam while heading toward his home from Sundoli Bazar. They shot him on chest and fled from the spot as the locals came hearing the sound, they said. Miscreants shot a man to death at Anghla Para in Lama upazila of Bandarban district early Tuesday. The victim was identified as Monkyaching Marma,35, a resident of Bangalhalia in Rajasthali upazila of Rangamati district. According to locals, Monkyaching came to visit his in-law’s family members at Ward-3 in Ruposhi Para union on Monday. A leader of local unit of Krishak League was gunned down by some unidentified miscreants at Fasiakhali Ghonapara in Chakaria upazila of Cox’s Bazar district on Monday. The deceased was identified as Sarwar Kamal, general secretary of Fasiakhali union unit of Krishak League. Some 10-12 miscreants attacked Sarwar and shot him around 10:30 am, leaving him dead on the spot, said Shaker Mohammad Zobair, officer-in-charge of Chakaria Police Station. On information, police recovered the body and sent it to a local hospital morgue for autopsy
