Two minor children drowned in a pond while playing on the bank of the water body in Barguna Sadar upazila on Tuesday afternoon. The deceased were identified as Junayed, 10, son of Siddiqur Rahman, and Yeasin, 9, son of Russell Hossain, both hailing from Patakata village under the Baaliatali union of the upazila. Locals said the children were playing on the bank of the pond beside their house in the afternoon. Accidently Junayed fell into the water body while Yeasin jumped into it to save him. 2 hurt, 4 missing in Barguna clash over alleged extortion As they were not found for long despite searching, later their bodies were found floating in the water body, they said.    Though they were immediately rushed to Barguna General Hospital where physicians declared them dead upon arrival, said Dr Tajkia Siddika, resident medical officer of the hospital. Later, the bodies were handed over to the families upon primary examination, she added.

Abdullah Al Mamun said the death of two children from the same family is a tragic incident. After the initial investigation and legal procedure, the bodies of the deceased were handed over to their families.

Two children drowned in a pond in Natore’s Baraigram upazila on Sunday. The deceased were identified as Anat and his cousin Humaira, both were three years old. The bodies of two teenagers were recovered from a pond at Navaran Dakshinpara field in Jhikargachha upazila of Jashore district on Sunday afternoon.  The deceased was identified as Parash Hossain, 13, son of Mahasin Hossain of Navaran Belermath village in Jhikargachha upazila. He was a class 5 student of Yaqub Bhuiyan Shishu Academy and Saikat Hossain, 13, son of Sagar Hossain of the same area. He was studying in a madrasa in Jessore. The two of them are cousins. Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Jhikargachha Police Station Sumon Bhakta said the body was handed over without an autopsy on the request of the family. A case of unnatural death has been registered in this regard.  

Two children drowned in a pond at Sirajabad in Islampur upazila of Jamalpur district on Monday. The deceased were identified as Simanto, 7, son of Ibrahim Khalil and Minal, 8, son of Shukkur Ali of the upazila. Mostafizur Rahman Kamal, Palabanda Union chairman, said the two children went missing while they were taking bath in the pond at noon. Later they recovered them from the pond and took the children to a local hospital where the doctors declared them dead.  

Two children drowned in a canal in Alsiar area in Kurigram’s Rajarhat upazila early Tuesday. The deceased were identified as Mahadi, 13, son of Sajidul Islam, and Farabi, 12, son of Sohan Mia. Abdullah Hil Zaman, officer-in-charge of Rajarhar police station, said their bodies were recovered but no complaint was lodged in this regard.  

Two children drowned in a pond at Nuntor village in Thakurgaon’s Ranisankail upazila early Tuesday.  The deceased were identified as Md Siam, 10, son of Makbul Hossain, and Al Amin, 12, son of Muktar Hossain. According to their family, one of them fell into the pond while trying to pick up his shoe, while the other fell while trying to save him. On information, a firefighting unit rushed in and recovered the bodies from the pond, said Gulfamul Islam Mandal, officer-in-charge of Ranisankail Police Station.    

Three people, including two children, drowned in separate incidents in Sitakunda upazila of Chattogram district on Tuesday.The deceased were identified as Md. Sohel (44), son of Rafikul Islam and resident of Muradpur union of the upazila, Ishan Das, 3, son of Mithun Das and resident of South Edulpur, and Abraham, 1.5 years, son of Jahed Hossain and resident of Sayedpur union.Dr. Nur Uddin Rashed, Health and Family Planning officer of Sitakund Upazila, said that from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm, three people, including two children, who drowned in water bodies in different areas of the upazila, were brought to the health complex.
