Police have recovered the throat-slit body of a beauty parlour owner from a rented house in the capital’s Gulshan area. The deceased was identified as Sadia Rahman Mim, 27, daughter of late Shahid Ali of Dhanbari upazila in Tangail. She used to run a beauty salon in Kalachandpur area and also worked at a bar. Police detained her roommate Nusrat for interrogation. Md Maruf Ahmed, sub-inspector of Gulshan Police Station, said the body was recovered from a rented flat at Kalachandpur West Para on Saturday night and then it was sent to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) morgue for autopsy on Sunday. Mim’s elder sister Shahida filed a case with Gulshan Police Station against unidentified persons. In the case statement, Shahida said she used to speak with her sister regularly over phone and last talked to her around 11:30am on January 16. “That night, her phone was switched off. I tried several times the next day but could not reach her,” Shahida said. She added that when she contacted Nusrat, the roommate claimed she had gone to her village home two days earlier and knew nothing about Mim’s whereabouts. Shahida said she left Tangail for Dhaka on January 17 afternoon and reached Mim’s rented house around 9pm where she found the house locked. Read More: College student found dead at Mirpur residence “With the help of the landlord and local people, we broke open the lock and found my sister dead inside,” she said. She immediately informed the National Emergency Service 999 after which police and the CID crime scene team arrived and sent the body to DMCH for autopsy. The deceased’s brother-in-law Noor Nabi said the family received the body from the DMCH morgue after the autopsy. The body will be taken to Tangail’s Dhanbari for burial, he said. Police said further investigation is underway.

A 45-year-old woman was found dead with her throat slit in Vaina village of Magura district town on Tuesday afternoon. The deceased was identified as Fatema Begum, the second wife of Wahiduzzaman Anu Munshi of the village. Nasir Uddin, officer-in-charge of Magura Police Station, said that neighbours were the first to spot Fatema's throat-slit body in the afternoon in the family house. A case has been lodged at Magura police station in this regard. The body has been sent for an autopsy, said the OC, adding that "a probe is on".  

A 25-year-old woman was found dead with her throat slit in a hotel room in the Agrabad area of Chattogram port city, police said on Friday. The identity of the deceased is yet to be established, according to officials. Mostafizur Rahman, the officer-in-charge of Halishohor Police Station, said the woman checked into the hotel along with a man on Thursday afternoon. "The two had identified themselves as husband and wife. Around 5.30 pm, the man left the hotel," he said. Cops broke open the door of the hotel room after its staff alerted them around 11.30 pm after getting no response from inside. A woman was found dead, with her hands and legs tied up, at her own residence at Jhautala in the city on Monday.
