A man was killed and ten others were injured when a bus overturned on the road in Charkalibari area of Mymensingh city on Wednesday. The deceased was identified as Manjurul Hasan, 41, a helper of the bus driver and resident of Sribordi in Sherpur district. 2 killed in Mymensingh after trees fall during nor'wester The accident occurred around 8 am near Shambhuganj China intersection when the Dhaka-bound ‘Junayed Express’ train from Sherpur overturned as its driver lost control over steering, leaving one killed and ten others injured, said Md Firoj Hossain, officer-in-charge of Kotwali Model Police Station. The injured were taken to Mymensingh Medical College and Hospital. Police could not arrest its driver as he managed to flee the scene.

A speeding truck rammed into a stationary passenger-packed bus from behind on Dhaka-Mymensingh highway on Saturday, leaving at least seven people dead and several others injured, police said. Five of the dead were from the same family. They were identified as Fazlul Haque,35, his wife Fatema Begum,28, their son Abdullah,6, and daughter Ajmina,9, and Nazrul Islam,55, Fatema’s father. The identities of the two other deceased could not be known yet, said police, adding that all those who suffered casualties were on board the bus. READ: Youth killed in city road crash The accident occurred around 3pm at Chelerghat in Trishal on Dhaka-Mymensingh highway, said officer-in-charge of Trishal police station Mainuddin. The crash killed five people on the spot. One succumbed to injuries on the way to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital, while another died in the hospital while under treatment. Eight of the injured were admitted to the hospital.  READ: 2 children killed in Chattogram road crash Traffic on the highway was disrupted for two hours after the accident, police said. OC Mainuddin said the bodies will be handed over to their families. The truck driver could not be detained yet but efforts are underway to capture him, he said.

Eight people were killed in separate road crashes in Bhaluka and Nandail upazilas of Mymensingh district Saturday morning.

Four people, including two members of a family, were killed and two others injured on Wednesday as a bus collided with a battery-run auto-rickshaw in Kolatapara area of Gouripur upazila.

Two people, including an assistant sub-inspector of police,  were killed after a Dhaka-bound private car fell into a pond in Chelerghat area of Trishal upazila here early Tuesday.
