A young man was killed and another injured after a motorcycle lost control in the Demra area of the capital early Thursday.The deceased was identified as Md Nazmul, 20, son of Md Delwar Hossain of Rajargaon village in Hajiganj upazila of Chandpur. He used to live with his family in the Konapara area of Demra. According to passerby Md Shahin, the accident took place in front of the Paper Mill Gate at Konapara Bansherpul around 1:00am when Nazmul was riding the motorcycle with his friend Iman, 19. The rider reportedly lost control of the vehicle, leaving both seriously injured. Locals rescued the two and first took them to a nearby hospital. Later, they were shifted to the Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) for advanced treatment, where doctors pronounced Nazmul dead. Iman received primary treatment and was later released. Inspector Md Faruk, in-charge of the DMCH police camp, said the body has been kept at the hospital morgue.

A teenage motorcyclist and his two pillion riders were killed as their bike hit a roadside tree at Betagi in Barguna early Friday, police said. The deceased were identified as bike rider Yeasin Arafat, 13, Rabbi Mridha, 14, and Siam, 13, all residents of Mokamia union. Read more: 2 cousins killed in Bagerhat road crash The accident occurred around 12:30 am when their motorcycle hit a road side tree on Barguna-Betagi highway after losing control over speed, leaving the trio dead on the spot, said Md Jihad, sub-inspector (SI) of Betagi police station. The bodies were sent to Barguna Sadar hospital morgue for autopsies, said the SI. A local leader of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) has killed and his friend injured as their motorcycle overturned on Hafez Bazlur Rahman Road in Raozan upazila.
