Police recovered the body of a young man from the Pakhiza area adjacent to Savar Bus Stand on Friday morning. The deceased was identified as Abu Kalam, 34, son of Abu Sayeed. His body was recovered from behind Lab Zone Hospital in Majidpur area. According to police and family members, the body bore multiple injury marks on the neck and head, suggesting that he was killed sometime during the night. The victim’s father alleged that Kalam ran a grocery shop and had given money to a person to go abroad. However, a dispute had been ongoing as the person failed to send him overseas. He claimed that the dispute over the issue might have led to his son’s killing. Sub-Inspector Abdullah Al Masud of Savar Model Police Station said police recovered the body after receiving information and sent it to Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College Hospital for an autopsy. Efforts are underway to identify those involved in the killing and bring them to justice, the officer added.

Police recovered the blood-stained body of an elderly man from beside an under-construction building in the Duri Angul Lane area of Lalbagh in the capital on Tuesday evening. The victim, Md Mainuddin, 70, a resident and house owner in the same area, was found unconscious around 7:15 pm. He was taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH), where the doctor on duty at the emergency department declared him dead. Electrician electrocuted to death in Dhaka’s Kadamtali Sub-Inspector (SI) Apu Mitra of Lalbagh Police Station said police rushed to the spot after receiving information and recovered the elderly man from beside an under-construction building owned by Raja Mia. Local residents told police that Mainuddin lived nearby and was unmarried, the officer said. Police also found multiple injury marks and blood stains on the body. The exact cause of death will be determined after an autopsy. The body has been kept at the Dhaka Medical College morgue for post-mortem examination and legal procedures are underway.

Police recovered the body of a 55-year old man from a paddy field in Sheikhpura area of Dinajpur Sadar upazila Tuesday morning. The identity of the deceased could not be ascertained yet. Golam Mawla Shah, inspector of Kotwali Police Station, said they recovered the body from the paddy field adjacent to the road of Sheikhpura Union Parishad building after being informed by village police. Mominul Islam, chairman of the local union parishad, said that locals saw the man roaming around the area on Monday. He might have been suffering from mental illness, added the chairman.

Police recovered the body of a man from a haor in the Pirer Char area of Beanibazar upazila of Sylhet, a day after he went missing. The deceased was identified as Dulal Ahmed, 40, son of late Gias Uddin of the area. He was a fugitive accused in a case filed by his wife. Police said Dulal jumped into the water on Saturday afternoon when the law enforcers went on a search operation to nab him. Since then, he has been missing.
