Low over Bay may intensify into cyclone: BMD
The low over Eastcentral Bay of Bengal and adjoining North Andaman Sea area is likely to move west-northwesterly direction and intensified into a Cyclonic Storm.
The low has intensified into a well-marked low over same area, said a Met office bulletin on Monday.
The Met office advised all fishing boats and trawlers over North Bay and deep sea to come close to the coast and proceed with caution till further notice, so that they can take shelter within a short notice.

Day temperatures may rise slightly and night temperature may fall slightly over the country, according to the BMD.
The country’s highest temperature was recorded in Sitakunda at 34.4 degree Celsius over the past 24 hours till 6pm on Saturday while the lowest temperature 21 degree Celsius was recorded in Panchagarh’s Tetulia till 6am on Sunday.

Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) has forecast rain or thunder showers in all divisions including Dhaka of the country in 24 hours commencing 9:00am on Friday.
“Rain or thunder showers accompanied by temporary gusty wind is likely to occur at a few places over Dhaka, Khulna and Sylhet divisions and at one or two places over Rangpur, Rajshahi, Mymensingh, Barishal and Chattogram divisions,” said a met office update.
The country’s highest 53millimeter of rainfall was recorded in Barishal in 24 hours till 6am on Friday.

Day temperatures may fall slightly and night temperature may remain nearly unchanged over the country, according to the BMD.
The country’s highest temperature was recorded in Feni at 35.5 degree Celsius over the past 24 hours till 6pm on Thursday while the lowest temperature 21.6 degree Celsius was recorded in Panchagarh’s Tetulia till 6am on Friday.

Depression over Bay of Bengal, rain likely in Khulna
The Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) has reported that the well-marked low over the Southwest Bay and adjoining Southeast Bay of Bengal has intensified into a depression and is moving west-northwestwards.
According to the BMD, the depression is expected to continue moving in a west-northwesterly direction.
In its latest forecast, the BMD also predicted rain or thundershowers in Khulna division within 24 hours, starting from 9:00 am on Wednesday.
“Rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty winds are likely to occur at one or two places over Khulna division. Elsewhere, the weather is expected to remain mainly dry with partly cloudy skies,” BMD said.

The highest recorded rainfall in the country over 24 hours, up until 6:00 am on Wednesday, was 14mm in Dinajpur.
Day and night temperatures are expected to remain largely unchanged across the country, according to the BMD.
The highest temperature recorded during 24 hours, until 6:00 pm on Tuesday, was 35°C in Feni, Sitakunda, and Mongla, while the lowest temperature, 22.5°C, was recorded in Tetulia early Wednesday morning.

A low pressure area has formed over Southeast Bay of Bengal and adjoining area.
Weather may remain mainly dry with temporary partly cloudy sky over the country in 24 hours from 9am on Monday, said a bulletin of Bangladesh Meteorological Department.

Commuters suffer as rain causes waterlogging in Dhaka
Heavy rainfall on Friday afternoon caused severe waterlogging in several parts of capital Dhaka, leading to immense suffering for commuters.
Many were seen wading through waterlogged streets in areas such as Mouchak, Malibagh, Shantinagar, Moghbazar, Kakrail, Paltan, Dainik Bangla Intersection, Khilgaon Rail Gate, and Rajarbagh Police Lines as they tried to reach their destinations.
Though today is a weekend, those who ventured out for emergency purposes found themselves stuck in severe traffic congestion in various parts of the city. Many were seen waiting for public transport for a long time.

The rainwater also seeped into some private vehicles and CNG-run autorickshaws plying the main roads, exacerbating the situation further.
Taking advantage of the traffic congestion and waterlogged roads, rickshaw-pullers were reportedly charging higher fares from passengers.
Kabir Hossain, a private service holder, shared his experience with UNB, stating that he had been waiting for a vehicle to go to the Dainik Bangla Intersection from Khilgaon Rail Gate for around half an hour, but no public transport was available. "The rickshaw-pullers are charging an extra fare compared to the usual one," he said.
