Government has appointed incumbent Director General of Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) Chowdhury Abdullah Al Mamun as the new Inspector General of Police (IGP) today. 

Additional IGP, Police headquarters, M Khurshid Hossain has been appointed DG of Rab. 

A gazette notification in this regard was issued by the Home Ministry's Public Security Division today.

The appointment of Chowdhury Abdullah Al Mamun will be effected from September 30 when incumbent IGP Benazir Ahmed will go on retirement the same day. 

Chowdhury Abdullh Al Mamun was appointed as the RAB DG through a gazette published on April 8 in 2022.
