The theme of this year is –“Youth awaken to build Bangladesh, Banghabandhu's Bangladesh".
Different government and non-government organizations have taken elaborate programmes to mark the day.
A programme arranged by the Youth and Sports Ministry will be held at Banghabandhu International Conference Centre (BICC). Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is expected to inaugurate the programme as the chief guest.
President Abdul Hamid and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina issued separate messages marking the day. .
In a message President Abdul Hamid said, Knowledge-oriented, skilled and ideal youth society is backbone of the nation. Their position will be against drugs, terrorism and militancy. To build the country as Sonar Bangla, the youths need to keep patriotism, dutifulness and affection towards people of the country awake.”
In a message on the eve of the day, Prime Minister said, “We are working to turn Bangladesh a middle income country during the golden jubilee of the independence in 2021 and a developed country by 2041. There is no alternative to build the youth force as skilled in modern technology for achieving the goal. The youths are main force to establish a digital, knowledge-based and peaceful society.”
She hoped that the youths will contribute to build Sonar Bangla , the dream of Father of the Nation Banghabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, through highest utilization of their talent and vigor.
