Bangladeshi super brand Walton on Sunday announced Tk 1 crore worth scholarship for students.
The Education Minister Dr. Dipu Moni, as the chief guest inaugurated the 'Walton Laptop Crore Taka Scholarship' project online Sunday at the Walton Corporate Office in the capital's Bashundhara.
State Minister for Primary and Mass Education Zakir Hossain was the special guest.
From June 1, students purchasing a Walton laptop, computer, tablet PC, desktop or all-in-one computer will have a guaranteed scholarship.
Under this project, the laptop department of Walton Digi-Tech Industries Limited will provide at least Tk 1 crore to the students in the next three months.
Students will get a scholarship of a minimum of Tk 2,000 to a maximum of Tk 1 lac for each Walton digital device purchase.
Education Minister Dr. Dipu Moni said that even though the educational institutions are closed due to corona, online and television teaching is on. However, due to lack of adequate digital devices, it was not possible to reach all the students.
Walton's multi-crore scholarship and interest-free installment facility will make digital devices easily available, she said.
Engineer Golam Murshed said the project was launched to ensure that not a single student is deprived due to lack of digital devices. We want everyone to be enlightened in the light of education. When the nation is educated, when the quality and rate of education increases, Bangladesh's position in the world will be at the top.
