Beijing seeks deeper cooperation with Dhaka to advance ‘Health Silk Road’
The National Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases (NICVD) inaugurated the first Bangladesh-China Joint Cardiovascular Disease Clinic.


The first Bangladesh-China Joint Cardiovascular Disease Clinic was inaugurated at the National Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases (NICVD) on Tuesday (December 02) to have deeper cooperation in the health sector, contributing to the ‘Health Silk Road’.

Health and Family Welfare Adviser Nurjahan Begum, Chinese Ambassador to Bangladesh Yao Wen, Deputy Director General of the Yunnan Foreign Affairs Office Ma Zuoxin and Deputy Director of the Fuwai Yunnan Hospital, Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences Shi Jinyang, among others, attended the ceremony.

Bangladesh-China Joint Clinic

A medical team from Yunnan Fuwai Hospital has arrived in Bangladesh to start their work.

Ambassador Yao said the establishment of the first Bangladesh-China joint clinic marks another significant achievement of mutual support between the two countries in the field of health, signifying a new phase in the two countries' healthcare cooperation.

He expressed the hope that both nations would work closely together to advance public health governance, medical technology innovation, and collaborative development of the health industry at a higher level, thereby better contributing to the ‘Health Silk Road’.

Adviser Nurjahan thanked China for its long-term assistance and support in the healthcare sector, stating that the establishment of the joint clinic is a crucial practice of the friendly cooperation between Bangladesh and China.

She expressed the hope for deeper collaboration in the health field to benefit more people.
