BNP leaders have stepped up their campaign in Jashore-1, calling on voters to back the party’s paddy sheaf candidate, Nuruzzaman Liton, ahead of the national election.
At a rally held on Sunday at the Baganchra United High School field in Sharsa upazila, senior party figures urged supporters to mobilise grassroots backing for the BNP nominee.
Addressing the gathering, Nuruzzaman Liton said voters were seeking relief from what he described as misrule, corruption and restrictions on democratic participation.
“The paddy sheaf represents the restoration of people’s voting rights,” he said, adding that the election would be a turning point for democracy.

Among the speakers were BNP’s former central office secretary Mofiqul Hasan Tripti, party adviser Khairuzzaman Modhu, and Sharsa upazila BNP president Hasan Zahir. Leaders from the party’s youth, student and volunteer wings were also present.
Organisers said activists from across the district had joined the event as part of efforts to consolidate support for the BNP in the constituency.
The Jashore-1 seat is expected to see a closely contested race in the polls.
